My name is Chad Augeson, and I would like to share a little about my background. I started playing rugby at California Lutheran University in Southern California. I went to two practices, played in one match, and have been hooked ever since.I have played rugby for over 20 years and still play this phenomenal game every chance I get. I have played in five national tournaments, three with my club, and two with select sides representing the Midwest.
I have been a high school rugby coach since 2000 when I started the Burnsville Bruisers Rugby Club. I was with them until 2004 when I took over the Mounds View Mustangs high school team. Two seasons ago I started the Western Alliance Rugby Warriors U19 boy’s rugby club and our program continues to grow.
I have also been heavily involved in the Minnesota U19 select side as an assistant coach for two years and the head coach for 4 more. I am proud to say that over 14 boys I have coached have gone on to play for the US Jr. Eagle national team in International Competition.
Whenever I get a chance to speak to other rugby players the main theme, without a doubt, is that they wished they had started playing sooner. With that goal in mind, I started Learn Rugby Minnesota! in order to teach this great sport to the youth of Minnesota and give them a chance to start as early as possible.
Since then, I have introduced rugby to over 2000 kids in Minnesota and our program continues to grow each year. Please feel free to contact me if you have a group or organization that might be interested in learning more about our fantastic program.
